Tube Tricks and Tips Workshop

Description

This workshop is designed to help you gain confidence through hands-on experience with enteral feeding tubes. Tubes can be intimidating, but it is essential to have a good understanding of how they work, as well as comfortability in teaching and assisting patients who use them. This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn about different types of tubes (PEG, PEG-J, jejunostomy, NG, Dobhoff, etc.), common issues that patients face, as well as simple solutions to address them. You will also learn how to identify tube-related problems and when to refer patients to the medical team. By the end of this workshop, you will have gained valuable practical experience and knowledge that you can apply in your practice.

Learning Objectives

Demonstrate proficiency and comfort in administering enteral nutrition through an enteral feeding tube.

Identify simple fixes to common problems and when to refer a patient to a physician/APP for further evaluation.

Effectively triage patient questions regarding various types of enteral nutrition tubes.
