Description
Everyone has a story of how they entered the nutrition and dietetics field, and even more about how their careers have unfolded. RDNs and NDTRs come from diverse backgrounds. While many become RDNs or NDTRs immediately after undergraduate studies, others enter the field after having prior careers. Personal experiences ultimately shape our career from key pivotal moments. And telling these stories to other professionals and prospective clientele is critical but often missed. Newer professionals often believe their options are limited; however, once they hear stories other RDNs and NDTRs share about their career paths, they become motivated to explore more ways to grow and diversify the profession with expertise and experiences. Taking the time to network and hear other people’s stories is essential as we continue to expand the boundaries of our roles. This presentation will discuss why storytelling is such a powerful tool for career building. We will explore the steps for turning your personal story into a resume that makes you relatable and marketable to potential employers and clients. This session will include a montage of video stories told by established dietitians to inspire new and experienced dietitians where they can take their careers next by hearing the stories and creating connections.
