Dr. Catherine Christie is Associate Dean and Professor Emeritus in the Brooks College of Health at the University of North Florida. A Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and of the Preventative Cardiovascular Nurses Association, Dr. Christie earned her degrees from Florida State University including a Ph.D. and M.S. in Food and Nutrition.
She is a Past President of the Florida Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and served two terms as Chair of the Dietetics and Nutrition Council which regulates the nutrition profession in Florida. She also served two terms on the Academy Board of Directors. She is active in service to community-based programs and agencies, serving two terms on the Board of the American Heart Association Jacksonville Affiliate, Inaugural Chair of their Health Equity Committee and is currently Chair of the North Florida Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) BOD. She is the recipient of numerous awards including Florida’s Distinguished Dietitian, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics President’s Mentor Award, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Excellence in Practice Award for Education and Outstanding Dietetic Educator Award, and most recently the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Medallion Award.
