Michelle Kuppich, RDN is the Executive Director of the California Food is Medicine Coalition (CalFIMC), a coalition of eight community-based organizations that provide medically tailored meal interventions, medically tailored groceries, and other services to individuals with chronic disease and other conditions. Prior to joining CalFIMC, Michelle was a Senior Manager on the Nutrition Services Coverage Team at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics where she advanced the business case for the integration of medical nutrition therapy and other nutrition interventions into population management strategies, specifically in the context of value-based care. She has extensive experience providing medical nutrition therapy for chronic conditions, which includes a decade of HIV specialization, which began at Project Open Hand, San Francisco, in 1997. Her experiences in disease management and as the manager of quality improvement for a large independent physician association afforded experience in clinical quality measurement, patient experience, and medical services operations. Additional professional experiences include providing services in the context of corporate wellness, specialty pharmacy, academic medicine, a medical weight management program and private practice. Michelle obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University and completed her dietetic internship at Saint Louis University.
