Rene Pearson RD

Rene Pearson is from a small town outside of Springfield, IL. She began her role as a disability advocate and public speaker at age 14 years as a State Goodwill Ambassador for Illinois. Since then, she has continued advocating for disability-related accessibility in higher education. She was a panelist speaker for disability pop-up engagements, a guest speaker for “Disability in Higher Education and Society” semester courses at Saint Louis University, and assisted in the implementation of a campus disability support and student advocacy group. She increased access and awareness of disability-related dorm and travel needs for her university. Her latest speaking engagement was teaching a class of dietetic interns about working with patients with disabilities. She completed her dietetic internship at the St. Louis Veteran Affairs Health Care System in June 2023 and is a RD and clinical dietitian at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Rene has a passion for nutrition autonomy, disability advocacy, and empowering patients with the knowledge and skills required in adopting specialized nutrition habits.
