Shayna Frost, RD, LDN, CDCES works for MedStar Health, a regional healthcare system based in Maryland and Washington D.C., on the MedStar Diabetes Pathway team. The MedStar Diabetes Pathway is an innovative technology-enabled program focusing on improving health outcomes and reducing hospitalizations for high-risk adults with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes. She also has a strong background working with chronic and end stage renal disease patients after several years working in dialysis prior to her current role. Shayna currently volunteers for the Diabetes Care and Education and Renal Nutrition Dietetics Practice Groups within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and has served as an appointed Advisor for the Women’s Interprofessional Network through the American Diabetes Association. She has given presentations for the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists on the future of diabetes education and overcoming therapeutic inertia. Over the past ten years, Shayna has worked in hospital, outpatient, corporate wellness, and private practice industries with clinical focuses on weight management, diabetes, renal, and cardiometabolic diseases. Her practice philosophy is to empower her patients to make small changes, which can lead to significant results longterm. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences from Pennsylvania State University. Shayna currently resides in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and in her spare time, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and 2 year-old son.
