Melissa Wallinga MS, RD, CSPCC, LD

Melissa Wallinga is a Board-Certified Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care Nutrition and is currently the PICU and trauma Dietitian at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho, where she has been working for 9 years. Melissa is also a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition Student at Rutgers University. Melissa has spent the entirety of her career thus far working in pediatric nutrition, beginning with a short time at the University of Nebraska in Childhood Obesity Programming and working in pediatric inpatient rehabilitation. She also recently spent two months in Senegal, Africa, providing nutrition care for patients aboard the Mercy Ships. Melissa has been involved in various projects while at St. Luke’s, including work to procure a metabolic cart and develop the IC testing program for pediatric trauma and PICU patients. She recently published a case study assessing variable metabolic demand following pediatric traumatic brain injury. Additionally, she was an editor for the pediatric enteral/parenteral chapter in the most recent edition of the Health Practitioners Guide to Gastrointestinal Nutrition. Melissa has spoken on various pediatric nutrition topics in many academic and non-academic settings and is also a speaker for Relizorb. She currently serves on committees in the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group and is also a CDR Specialist and subject matter expert for the CSPCC Exam.
