A registered dietitian since 1977, Carolyn found her clinical home as a pediatric dietitian in 1993 where she worked with children with special needs and then became the ketogenic dietitian for the hospital. After twelve years, she moved into a new role as a clinical informaticist in the IT department where initial steps were being made to build an electronic medical record. She became certified in orders and built orders for most of the ancillary departments, including nutrition as well as food service, nursing, and lab. When the hospital system moved to a new food service management company, she was assigned to update, build, and test these orders with the company’s IT Dietitians. Support continued as updates were introduced by the software as well as changes requested by clinical staff.
Carolyn has been an active volunteer within the Academy and DPGs. Most recently she completed two years as treasurer of the Nutrition Informatics DPG (NI). Previously, she volunteered for several years with the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group (PNPG) in numerous roles, including Chair. She has been married for 45+ years with two grown children and 2 grandchildren.
