Laura Van Althuis has been a clinical acute-care dietitian and clinical research coordinator at Duke University Hospital since 2019. She has been performing indirect calorimetry along with other research tasks since June of 2021 on Paul Wischmeyer’s clinical trials. In gaining experience performing numerous metabolic cart assessments utilizing ventilator circuits, masks, and canopy hoods, Laura has enjoyed sharing this bedside knowledge at various meetings and conferences. In her free time, she is pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and enjoys kayaking, gardening, and attending church with her husband.
