Kate Gardner Burt, PhD, RD is an assistant professor and the Director of the undergraduate DPD program at Lehman College, City University of New York. She teaches courses in cultural foods and professional practice. Dr. Burts research broadly aims to reduce racial and ethnic inequities in dietetics and food systems. Within this scope, her recent work focuses on examining systemic racial bias and the normativity of whiteness in the profession and in our dietary recommendations. Dr. Burt received her BS in film and television from Boston University and her MS in exercise physiology and nutrition and PhD in food and nutrition policy from Teachers College, Columbia University.
