Kelsey is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Illinois Chicago working with Dr. Krista Varady, an international expert in intermittent fasting. Kelsey has conducted several trials related to intermittent fasting and has studied both alternate-day modified fasting as well as time-restricted eating for health and disease treatment/prevention. Kelsey is currently a co-investigator on an NIH R01 trial to compare the effects of a combination intervention (alternate-day fasting [ADF] and aerobic exercise) versus ADF or exercise alone versus a control on hepatic steatosis over 24-weeks in participants who are have prediabetes, obesity, and have been diagnosed with NAFLD.
