Cynthia Blocksom received her Bachelors of Science degree in Dietetics from The Ohio State University and earned a Masters in Nutrition Education as well as a second Masters in Education in Community Health from the University of Cincinnati. She is a Registered Dietitian and an Ohio Licensed Dietitian, a Master Certified Health Education Specialist, and a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Following a long career in public health at the Cincinnati Health Department, she has been teaching nutrition courses as adjunct faculty at the Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati. She served on the Division Board of Professional Development and Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc., a 5-year term on the Research Committee of the Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute, and CincySmiles Foundation Board President.
Cynthia was elected as President of the Greater Cincinnati Dietetic Association, Council on Practice Chair with the Ohio affiliate, and appointed to a five-year term on the Ohio Board of Dietetics. She enjoys volunteering with activities and fundraising for various local non-profits. Through the years Cynthia has received numerous special achievement and teaching excellence awards as well as Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year, Member Merit, and Ohios Recognized Dietitian of the Year.
For much of her career, Cynthia has been an advocate for licensure, public policy, and advocacy. In June of 2021, she began serving as the chair of the Academys Consumer Protection and Licensure Subcommittee.
