A nationally recognized expert in health indicators, health disparities/equity, and social determinants of health, David Huang (CDR, US Public Health Service) is the Chief of the Health Promotion and Statistics Branch, which provides primary statistical and epidemiological support for the Department of Health and Human Servicess (HHSs) Healthy People initiative at the CDCs National Center for Health Statistics. In this role, he is the principal statistical advisor to HHS on national health goals established through the initiative every ten years.

An engineer by training, CDR Huangs educational background includes a PhD in Industrial Engineering and MS in Health Systems from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MPH in quantitative methods from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, and a BSE in electrical engineering from Duke University.
