Lori J. Bechard, PhD, MEd, RD, is a registered dietitian and clinical nutrition researcher, specializing in the investigation of nutrition assessment techniques and interventions to optimize outcomes for children with chronic and critical illnesses. She has held various roles as a researcher and clinician at Boston Childrens Hospital for over 20 years, and also teaches in the Applied Nutrition graduate program at Northeastern University. Her current major research focus is on nutritional strategies to improve outcomes during pediatric critical illness, and she has led 3 international surveys of nutrition practices in pediatric intensive care units, resulting in numerous presentations and publications. She has published many original research articles, numerous reviews, and book chapters, and has held several leadership roles in the Academy, and is currently serving as the Chair of PNPG.
