Patty is a registered dietitian nutritionist in New Mexico, and works as the Hunger Initiatives Coordinator in the Office of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. She was previously an Associate Scientist and Lecturer at the University of New Mexico Department of Pediatrics. Her work has centered on child nutrition, food security, federal nutrition programs, maternal and child health, policy, and advocacy. Patty currently serves in a volunteer capacity on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Political Action Committee (ANDPAC) Board of Directors, and the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Workgroup, and previously served as a member of the Academy’s Farm Bill Workgroup, and the Legislative and Public Policy Committee (LPPC). Patty is a Past-President of the New Mexico Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and previously served as NMAND’s Public Policy Coordinator. In 2018, she was awarded the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year for New Mexico, and in 2017, after being nominated for her nutrition policy advocacy by then US Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), Patty received the Academy’s Award for Grassroots Excellence.
