Dr. Marshall joined the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1991. She is a registered dietitian and a professor in the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry. In 2016, she was appointed the Michael W. Finkelstein Centennial Professor of Teaching. Dr. Marshall coordinates and teaches the nutrition curriculum within the College of Dentistry. She also directs the Evidence Based Dentistry curriculum for second- and third-year dental students and also serves as Director of the Student Reseach Program. Dr. Marshall’s research interests focus on nutrition, oral health and systemic health. Current research efforts include diet, growth, and oral health in young children, nutrition and oral health in the elderly, as well as investigation of evidence based practice competency and clinician behaviors. She has a number of publications, is a member of several professional organizations and currently serves as the Research Editor for JAND. She was recently awarded The American Dental Association/American Association for Dental Research Evidence-Based Dentistry Team Faculty Award.
