Dr. Johnson is a registered dietitian with 20 years of experience, and has had the opportunity to work with patients across the lifespan. While her primary role at East Tennessee State University is directing the dietetic internship program, she also teaches Maternal and Child Nutrition, Pharmacology, and supervised practice-related courses. She serves as faculty for the Vanderbilt LEND Consortium, and as a consultant at ETSU Health Pediatrics. Her research is focused in the area of outcomes related to intrauterine drug exposure in infants and children in the Appalachian region, as well as the impact of drug exposure, weight, and feeding on the fecal fermentation profiles and microbiomes of young children. Dr. Johnson is committed to collaborative efforts, and serves as a member of the Baby Steps Interprofessional Developmental Clinic.
