J. Philip Karl PhD, RD is a Nutrition Scientist in the Military Nutrition Division at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM). Dr. Karl received his Ph.D. in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition from Tufts University where his research focused on interactions between diet, the gut microbiota, and human vitamin K nutriture. Dr. Karls current research aims to characterize how diet, stress and the gut microbiome interact to impact human physiology, and to identify nutritional strategies for leveraging the gut microbiome to improve health and performance.
