The emerging fields of immunonutrition and integrative medicine provide exciting opportunities to use nutrition to maintain and enhance the functioning of the immune system and promote everyday wellness. Join Philip Calder, PhD, RNutr and Tieraona Low Dog, MD for an interactive discussion of how nutrition can promote immune system functioning, with an emphasis on established and emerging research on botanical ingredients. Dr. Calder will describe recent advances in immunonutrition and discuss important nutritional factors for immunity, including the mechanistic effects of botanical ingredients and their interactions with the microbiome. Dr. Low Dog will apply her extensive clinical experience in integrative medicine to discuss practical applications of the various botanical ingredients that have beneficial effects on the immune system. Beyond the science, she will utilize short case vignettes to demonstrate how botanicals are used in integrative medicine to support immune health.
