128. The Female and Male Athlete Triad: Health and Nutritional Implications for Recovery

The Female and Male Athlete Triad affect many athletes across a wide variety of sports, but leanness sports tend to increase the prevalence of each. The energetic and metabolic factors that underlie the etiology of the Triad in women and men will be explained and the differences between the mechanistic factors will be discussed. The most clinically significant outcomes to health impact the reproductive system and bone health and the presentation will be discussed. The nutritional factors that may enhance recovery from the Female and Male Athlete Triad will also be discussed.
