Join our presenters on a fun, musical journey teaching MyPlate to diverse communities through a unique, creative, and interactive educational theater intervention program developed to increase nutrition and physical activity knowledge, self-esteem, and reduce childhood obesity and health-related issues. A playbill containing educational and musical tools, including tips on how to obtain funding sources and collaborative partners, will be distributed to all session participants. By the end of the session, participants will be transformed into the stars of a short educational musical! Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch or dance with an ex-Rockette and Broadway choreographer and our team of RDNs!

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate innovative and culturally-appropriate classroom nutrition education, self-esteem, and physical activity for elementary school students in underserved communities
  • Apply the tools provided to build strategies, partnerships and coalitions engaging all stakeholders in youth obesity prevention efforts and identify funding sources in their own community
  • Develop, implement and evaluate an innovative community-based educational program through systemic collaboration to ensure impact, scalability and sustainability
