Description

This session will showcase the National Baptist Convention USA and the Academy’s strategic partnership aimed at reducing health disparities for African-Americans, which focuses on aligning nutrition security and ministry outreach. The joint initiative consists of print and media resources for use in faith-based health ministries on issues such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, eating on a budget and living with kidney disease. The National Organization of Blacks in Dietetics and Nutrition (NOBIDAN) Member Interest Group has led the initiative, reaching more than 7.5 million African American Baptists with timely, accurate and potentially life-changing nutrition information. Speakers will share the outcomes of the initiative and identify applications across faith-based organizations and other denominations. Cameo appearances from members of Congress expressing support for the project will be featured.
